New Tinnitus Treatments

by JJ Currie

A difficulty commonly shared by persons who suffer from tinnitus is the inability to sleep well, so many of these persons search for revolutionary therapies to help them resolve this problem. Individuals who have this disorder experience the ringing sound as being much louder at night when their surroundings are quieter in comparison with the noise volume of daytime life. At nighttime, when the majority of people are sleeping, tinnitus sufferers desperately wish to, but are unable to, take refuge in the relief of sleep.

One type of therapy for this problem, which can be used for those persons who are experiencing difficulty sleeping, involves masking of the noise. This modality employs white noise to distract the individual from the ringing in his or her ears. This type of treatment, however, is only of short-term benefit.

It is a temporary treatment in a way that it can only mask the tinnitus sounds while the masker is worn but it brings back the noise right away as when the masker is removed. This is why most of those who have problems with sleep would look for new tinnitus treatment which could probably promise them much better sleep.

Because the problem is sleep, there are recommendations to use melatonin since it is known to be effective as a sleep aid. There are commercially sold melatonin tablets but must not be taken in just like that without proper guidance from a doctor. Melatonin should not be taken in large doses and at the wrong time of the day because it may interfere with the natural ability of our body to produce it.

Beta-carotene is another substance which appears to reduce the noise of tinnitus. If you read the labels on popular tinnitus medications, you'll see that most of them contain Vitamin A as one of the main ingredients. When a sufferer ingests an increased amount of beta-carotene, their body changes the amount it needs to Vitamin A. The excess is then passed from the body as waste.

Tinnitus sufferers have been delighted to learn that a new treatment regime of melatonin and beta-carotene has been developed. Virtually any help from the constant ringing noise they experience is a boon to tinnitus sufferers. Another good idea is to take Vitamin A to help them boost their immune response. Having a efficacious immune system makes sufferers happy, and helps them not notice that annoying ringing noise so much.

"Adaptogen: an agent that allows the body to counter adverse physical, chemical, or biological stressors by raising nonspecific resistance toward such stress, thus allowing the organism to “adapt” to the stressful circumstances".

Adaptogens have a normalizing effect on the body and are capable of either toning down the activity of hyperfunctioning systems or strengthening the activity of systems that are currently having a poor ability to respond adequately.

Many adaptogens contain polysaccharides that stimulate immune system components and have immune system enhancing benefits.
